Description: This bowl has been wet turned from a large piece of applewood obtained from an orchard sold by Wellington college for development. On first turning the bowl blank weighed 4 kilos and contained alot of wet rotten wood. After drying for a week, I cleared the rotten wood out, strengthened the bowl rim and turned the bowl out further resulting in a weight of 2.7 kilos. After drying for 4 months the strengthening broke away and a distorted rim resulted with the heartwood detached from the rest of the bowl. So this bowl now has two large natural edges where the heartwood and rotten wood was. It has a lovely colour and the holes fit in nicely with the grain.
